Balenciaga(esque) bling

I love jewellery especially on other people, but on myself I'm never sure. I don't really wear very much, just the same few pieces every day (wedding rings mainly). When I do wear jewellery it tends to be a statement necklace or earrings, never rings. I never feel the mix of classic and costume jewellery really blend, and my engagement ring trumps any from the high street.

However I have changed my mind! After seeing other bloggers rocking balenciaga-esque rings I had to give it a go. These rings from Asos were a great find and at only £12 how could I resist!

I wore them the other night at a hen do where the dress code was all black. Wearing these rings brought interest and fun to my outfit, and worked well as a statement hand of jewellery which didn't clash with my other hand of classic jewellery.

Fashions - 70s vibe

Today I was on a mission to get BIG hair. After seeing the photos of the Marc by Marc Jacobs show on Monday I was obssessed! I thought the 70s vibe of the show was great, retro yet modern. I absolutley loved all the prints and colours of the fabric and the models big curly hair and red lips really completed the look but took it to another level.

My 70s inspired look was simple; flared jeans, white embrodered shirt and big faux fur coat. I thought the hair was the best accessory and felt amazing! This is a hairstyle I will be wearing often.

Life - Birmingham

Last weekend I went to stay my sister for a few days in Birmingham. We had a wonderful weekend and did lots of fun things. On the Friday I went to watch my sister perform in the chorus of the CBSO at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. The concert was a celebration of music by Lerner and Lowe conducted by the amazing John Wilson. The night was really great and the orchestra and singers performed lots of great songs from musicals My Fair Lady, Gigi, Camelot, Brigadoon and Paint your wagon.

On the Saturday we did a small amount of shopping, although my still injured foot prevented us from doing as much as I would have liked. Instead we decided to spend the afternoon at Marco Pierre Whites restaurant at the top of the Cube, and enjoyed prosecco and desserts whilst admiring the amazing view across the city.

In the evening we enjoyed a delicious curry at Blue Mango restaurant just off Broad Street before heading to the O2 academy to see Two Door Cinema Club. The band were really good and we had a great night dancing and singing along, if you get the chase go see them. They were supported by south London band Bastille, who are also definitely worth a watch and listen.

Classic Monochrome

Classic Monochrome

I recently purchased these monochrome shoes from Zara and had to plan an outfit for them. Keeping it classic and feminine with a silk white blouse, pencil skirt and heels, but adding the leather skirt and cuff  make the look a little edgier and ticks off another key trend.

Derek Lam silk shirt (similar here and here). Zara ankle strap shoes. All Saints leather pencil skirt (similar here). Gucci gold plated leather cuff. Celine clutch (similar here).
