Life - New Balance

Recently I have been absent from my blog and I have let life get in the way of posting. Over the past year I have developed pain in my left foot which has become progressively worse, and, finally has resulted in me requiring surgery to repair the damage, which occurred last week.

The pain became unmanageable and started to prevent me from doing the things I love; dancing, blogging and wearing heels, of all heights! Even my go to comfy high tops with inbuilt heel became too much for me to endure. That’s where my sartorial problems started.

I didn’t realise quite how restricted I would be without a heel. I found myself stood, staring perplexed into the depths of my wardrobe hoping for inspiration to strike me. I hadn’t realised how integral heels were to my outfits and suddenly I noticed the void in my footwear, that is the lack of flat, winter appropriate shoes.

This lack of boots and shoes has left me flummoxed and my attempts to adapt and adjust outfits have fallen short. Silver ballet pumps, whilst pretty and a versitile summer staple have proved, neither warm, waterproof nor supportive for a foot injury, and I feel are best left for a warmer climate.
So in an attempt to rectify this absence of appropriate shoes, I followed in the footsteps of other bloggers (a few months behind I admit) and purchased a pair of retro new balance trainers.  While suede is not the perfect material for rainy weather it is a step in the right direction to warmth and comfort. Hopefully these will help me bridge the gap and begin to fill the deficit until I can get back into my heels.

Life - Happy Birthday!

I've been at home to celebrate my (not so) little sister's birthday, who turns twenty two today. Happy Birthday Charlotte! What better way to celebrate her than by showing her off on my blog. She arrived home from Birmingham the other day rocking this outfit. Love the burgundy details, the cosy hat and studded shoes.

As a birthday treat we enjoyed afternoon tea at Langdale Chase hotel in the Lake District. The cakes and treats were divine, which we enjoyed with some pink fizz in front of a roaring log fire, in the imposing wood panellled hall. Langdale Chase is a country house hotel with beautiful gardens situated at the edge of Lake Windermere, with amazing panoramic views, and was featured on the ITVs The Lakes. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the hotel, staff were attentive and friendly and food delicious. If you are in the area I would recommended a visit.

Fashion - Sparkles

Last week I went out for a lovely meal with my husband and some close friends at Rockliffe Hall. We ate at Kenny Atkinson at the Orangery and enjoyed the 7 course festive tasting menu with wine pairing. As we were celebrating friend’s birthdays and a job promotion we started the evening with cocktails in the lounge. I chose an amazing cocktail created for the diamond jubilee; it was a champagne cocktail with a sugar diamond dropped in when served to create a fizz.  The meal itself was fabulous, the flavours and combinations were a taste sensation and the pianist created a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Highlights of the meal for me were the partridge terrine, goose, cheese course (obviously) and the plum sake, which smelt of Christmas! We ended the evening with more cocktails and coffee and lots of delicious sweet petits fours.

For a splendid evening of celebration and indulgence, an outfit of equal prestige was required.... and so the big guns came out... The Manolo Balhniks. The Sedaraby d’Orsay pumps were a dream of mine, until a trip to New York close to my twenty first birthday, when my dream came true. The elegance and femininity of the shoe is perfection, coupled with the dazzling sparkle of the buckle, they make my heart melt. The dress is by Cos and to increase the glitz and glamour I accessorised with my most twinkling jewellery.
